SISTERHOOD ALLIANCES
In line with the principles of Lions Clubs International in promoting global understanding, LCGTM has been actively cultivating friendships across borders since its establishment in 1988.
The journey began in 1989 with the Lions Club of Hatyai Central in Thailand, initiated through the efforts of Charter President Danny Lim and Past President Anthony Goh. Although this club later became defunct due to a major flood and the relocation of its members, it marked the beginning of LCGTM’s international relationships.
Driven by a strong Lionistic spirit despite limited resources, LCGTM continued to establish sister club connections within our region:
- Lions Club of Singapore Fort Canning in 1994
- Lions Club of Medan Raya, Indonesia in 1995
- Lions Club of Petaling Jaya Metro in 1997
- Lions Club of Kota Budaya in 1999
These alliances were built on both fellowship and service. Members and their families shared many memorable visits, often travelling together to celebrate anniversaries and strengthen their bonds.
More importantly, these relationships also led to meaningful joint service projects that benefited communities and reflected the true purpose of Lionism.
LCGTM’s Sister Clubs journey embodies the genuine essence of Lionism—service, unity, and friendship across nations.
This blog serves as a memory bank to showcase our activities, allowing us to relive the past, celebrate our shared journey, and cherish the friendships built over the years. Enjoy and recall the memories.
